Brinda Jacob-Janvrin a movement-based expressive arts therapist and a performer with more than 30 years of performance experience. A qualified counsellor, she has been working extensively with movement and arts therapies since 2003. A practitioner and facilitator for Authentic Movement and Natural Dreamwork, Brinda is passionate about the arts, the mysterious workings of the Psyche-Soma and connections between the Body and Earth.
Brinda is the founder and managing trustee of the Studio for Movement Arts and Therapies Trust, a registered charitable Trust, created in January 2011 with the following vision and mission:-
Vision: With resilient and empowered individuals, a healed world emerges.
Mission: We craft creatively alive spaces to nurture & catalyse self-inquiry, expression & it's integration.
Brinda is deeply interested in working with the Unholy Trinity (as described by C.Jung) of the Body, the Shadow and the Feminine as portals into the deeper Self. Her work with the feminine and the body has led to the firm belief that reclaiming and having agency around our desire is not only an antidote to the voices and violence of patriarchy, but also a path towards true empowerment. This in turn has led to the creation of the Desire project in 2017.
The Desire project is an invitation to explore sensations, emotions, images and questions around desire, identity, longing, and belonging. Reclaiming and owning our desire enables us to find our voices and live our authentic lives with discernment, joy, compassion and pleasure. The Desire project take the form of workshops, residencies, photography, film & movement installations, performances and in its current iteration is a movement X video art installation.

Lips As A Portal
The lips first appeared to me in a meditation in 2012. At the time I wasn't quite sure what they were - i just knew something was opening and closing and had the texture of elephant skin. Over the years they would reappear in both my dreams and my meditations in various forms.
